Turf Deli Racing News

Spring Punting Tool Box

Well it is time for the Caulfield Guineas once more. That means that footy is well and truly finished. That means that there are actually stories about racing in the newspapers.

That must also mean that it is time to get serious and bury your head into the form guide.

Or smudge your face against the computer screen - which really isn't anywhere near as much fun.

To assist, here is a list of personally recommended (and more importantly - free) websites that serious and casual punters alike need to keep handy to make the most of Springtime goodness.

www.old.tab.com.au
The new TAB website basically just isn't that flash - even though it is developed in flash. It has been roundly hounded by many customers (just visit the TAB facebook page if you don't believe us). Apart from being too slow, it is still bug ridden, poorly designed, there is too much information crammed on the one screen, the bet confirmation slip is a total mess to read and you can't copy and paste text like you used to. So keep this link handy - it is for the old TAB website as it was in the good ol' days. They have promised to keep this up till the end of Spring, so make the most of it while you can and retain your sanity for a little while longer.

We notice that the TAB is sponsoring the Angst Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

Is that to do with the poor punters trying to use their new website ? Suspect they are rather angst ridden

Racing Victoria
The central resource for all factual racing information. As opposed to, the central resource for all nonsensical racing information, which is of course, Turf Deli. In particular, Racing Victoria's free form service is seriously good. View the day's fields. Click through for brief form, or detailed form with lifetime starts for each horse (very handy for checking wet track form in detail). Plus vital information like trials, jockey's colours, stewards reports from previous meetings, and race nominations for each horse so you can see if a horse is being kept to run in a particular race.

Racehorse Talk Australia
Racehorse talk forum, full of nice, polite, and knowledgeable people (unlike most online forums), from all facets of the racing industry. Great for voicing your opinion in a supportive environment and picking the brains of fellow punters and racing enthusiasts. There is always lots of vibrant and informative discussion about anything vaguely to do with racing, plus some very knowledgeable punters.

Free TVN video replays.
It is still possible to access the TVN racing live feed and the archive of race replays for free - so you don't need to pay via the Racing Network site. Follow this link, click on Sport under the On Demand menu, then select Horse Racing then select Racing Archive to access races by month and by day. Shame they don’t put the race distances in the menu previews would be a lot easier to find the race you want to watch, but hey it is free so can't complain too much

Deposit $50, Bet With $200

For one week only IASBET have been nice enough to increase their freebie offer.

Now if you deposit $50, you will automatically get credited with $150 worth of freebies.

This is a deposit offer too. Most corporate bookmakers these days only offer a match the value of your first bet offer.

If you are planning to bet $50 over the Spring Carnival, then make sure you get your money's worth by taking up these offers when they magically appear in your inbox.

You can bet with IASBET the same way you bet on the TAB, so you can take quinellas, trifectas and the ever desirable quadrellas and often you will get a dividend that is better than what your local TAB pays. Plus you can choose between tote odds or fixed odds and more often than not end up collecting even more when you back a winner.

With a small deposit, plus the tasty freebies you can play along with our weekly Betting Portfolio this spring and have a bit of fun on the punt this spring carnival.

If you already have an IASBET account you can still earn some freebies with the Refer A Friend bonus.

Forward this offer on and get your friends to quote your Refer A Friend number when they open their account. That's another $50 freebie per friend to add to the punting shopping basket.

One week only - offer closes when they jump in the Caulfield Cup Saturday 20/10/2012

Last Week's Results

All Too Hard

It was a balmy 12 degrees or so at Flemington last week. Perfect weather for that after the last race streak down the straight.

There was also the controversial late scratching of the well fancied EXCEPTIONALLY because the track was too hard. All in the best interest of the horse which is to be applauded of course. But next time we strike a tough meeting to do the form on, we might just scratch a few hours before sending out the tips. Too hard?

The tips went OK with one winner on top and 4 winners lurking in the selections.

Race 5: 1-MOSHEEN 1st W=$4.20
Race 6: 4-MAYBE DISCREET 1st W=$5.40
Race 7: 11-GREEN MOON 1st W=$3.70
Race 8: 11-HALLOWELL BELLE 1st W=$7.50

The Betting Portfolio wasn't left with much after scratchings and got about half its outlay back. Still no profits. We promise to send out a mass media press release when a profit finally appears. However, we did manage to pot another well fancied runner in the Lay of the Day section, Race 6: 10-SOFT SAND 9th W=$5.00.

The Horses To Follow have been going well, with Race 7:11-GREEN MOON 1st W=$3.70 winning and long shot Race 5: 14-BONARIA 2nd W=$40.60 running a huge race. Rather cleverly we had made these our best bet and best roughie respectfully at their previous runs. Bravo !

2012 Spring Campaign: 9 weeks - 0 profits - 6 returns - 3 wipe outs - Net : -$366.40

____________________________________

Ask for it today at your local chemist or over the counter at the TAB.

One single dose is all it takes for effective protection against a wide range of common punting ailments such as:

- three legged quaddies
- unexpected protests
- trying to use the new TAB website
- going wide in the first leg of the quad and the favourite getting up

Try it today.

The side effects are minimal and the polka dot rash is normally gone by the time they jump in the last.
