Whilst the focus of the nation last Saturday was fixated on state of the art, 3D representations of the lavatories at Parliament House, the Turf Deli team was quietly tipping up a storm down Moonee Valley way.

Our Betting Portfolio had a grand day out.

We declared three horses, a Best Bet, Best Each Way and Best Roughie.

The Best Bet, Race 6 : 2-STANZOUT 1st W=$4.70, which we were extremely keen on in the main race summary, never looked like losing and won at rather healthy odds. Plus we had something on the $8.90 quinella.

The Best Each Way, Race 7: 5-TWO HILLS 1st W=$4.20, led all the way and also never looked like losing. We will discreetly gloss over the fact that we took it in quinellas in the Betting Portfolio so didn't actually collect anything.

Most impressively of all, our Best Roughie, Race 2: 11-CHAMPAGNE LOVE 2nd W=$40.60, P=$7.30, started 2nd longest outsider of the field, did exactly as we predicted. Small field, leader biased track, soft lead, she kicked and was only just headed in the last 10M to be beaten only a head at long odds . We were oh so close to utilising our constitutionally guaranteed punting boasting rights and claiming the Prime Ministership.

Which means that the Betting Portfolio recorded a tidy $106.75 profit on top of the Week 1 profit. So two weeks in, two profits, currently showing a return of 283%, in an effort that can only be described as "utterly unsustainable".

STANZOUT W=$4.70 was also featured in our Horses To Follow section. This section also includes a list of all spring Melbourne race meetings for the last 10 years to assist in predicting track patterns. We did warn that there was a chance of a leader dominated track last Saturday, and there was plenty of money to be made if you spotted the track bias early on in the day.
