Feehan Stakes Form Guide (15/09/2001)

Moonee Valley 15/09/2001

Track: Dead to Good
Weather: Fine
Rail: TRUE

Likely Racing Pattern:
Rail back to TRUE here, and often that means its hard for on pacers to feature - so presuming we will get a typical MV track with those hooking wide on the home turn featuring and coming home hard and late. No rain forecast at the moment, so should get a relatively firm surface.

Results : For once we got the weather right - and the results came pouring in.

Betting Tip:
The Feehan is a race for sightseeing only, so that sucks a lot of betting value and interest out of the day. Not much in most of the other races with lots of unknowns, so just a few select bets the way to go Race 2 No 6 Star Hit, Race 5 No1 Firm and Race 7 No 12 Ponton Flyer

Quaddie Attack:
Happy to go one out on Sunline, although that basically turns it into a treble, so hard up for value. 1st leg hope for some value, some value in the 2nd leg if La Lagune gets beaten, and last leg is pretty open and even. Although if Bush Padre, La Lagune and Sunline all win you will be lucky to get your train fare home with a skinny dividend.

Race 4: 4,9,10,11(scr),16(scr) 1st 10-Passing Shot (W=$21.50), 2nd Bush Padre(W=$2.70)
Race 5: 1,4,5,7,10 1st 4-Deprave (W=$6.40),2nd 1-Firm (W=$7.50),3rd 7-LaLagune(W=$3.50)
Race 6: 7 2nd 7 - Sunline (W=$1.60)
Race 7: 4,5,9,12(scr) 1st 4 - Lady Marion (W=$11.20)
= 3 x 4 x 1 x 3 = $18

Results : Gave this an almighty shake. Pick the roughhie in the 1st leg, everything covered in the 2nd, just had to spend the extra $18 to put Northerly in the 3rd and got the value winner of the last in a $8000 ($1) quaddie.

**** NOTE : that we tipped the quaddie for just $9 in out top 3 selections (once the scratchings were taken out).**************

RACE 2: 1200M Open
Selections:
6 - Star Hit
1 - Marstic 2nd (W=$4.00)
5 - Ramano's Star

Summary:
A sprint race. No pace. None at all. If 5 - Ramano's Star is forward enough she will go to the lead here and this race will be over, but big question mark over her fitness. Only other leaders are 6 - Star Hit and 7 - Super Elegant.
Pretty keen on 6 - Star Hit here, race fit, on pacer in slowly run race, last 50 M the test, but she should be able to out sprint these. 1 - Marstic the obvious danger,

1 - Marstic : Huge weight. Been racing very well, and just below the Group sprinters last 2 runs - loomed up but did not run out the 1400M behind Sunline last start. Has won with 58kgs on a 52 limit before, so actually not all that badly weighted here on a 54 limit. Queries - injured during race last start, and looses a bit of his edge on a dry track (last dry track win Dec 98!!). Some chance. 2nd (W=$4.00)
2 - Cheiron : QLDer and former Nzer trying his luck in Melb town (the big smoke). Done a big fat nothing in Australia so far, so have to let run.
3 - Royal Caliph : Super honest stayer, who always seems to be able to run on well when fresh. Well drawn. 2nd up and up 200M. Gets the dry track he wants, but don't think MV is his go - gets too far back. No
4 - Vyner's Lane : Well drawn, but another Nzer who must be close to be deported for poor form. Can't have till does something.
5 - Ramano's Star : Speedy mare who has been scratched recently because of wet tracks. Meeting a pretty ordinary field here and if she is on song, will go to lead and win this easily. Question mark is only 1 run in the last year, which suggest she will need the run here. Rough.
6 - Star Hit : Well drawn. Lightly raced with good win strike rate. Dry track suits, and good effort against some smart types last start. Question mark is yet to win past 1000M, but dry track, tight circuit, lack of pace, and on pacer so should be right in the finish here.
7 - Super Elegant : Has had too many chances for us. Does love MV, and usually in the finish, but just lacks that finishing burst. Not won for over a year now, and really had every chance last start. Probably be in the finish, but we have sacked him. Having said that, she is not going to get it much easier than this.
8 - Kennett : Well drawn. Syd horse down here for 1st time, and lightly raced. Disappointed 1st up, but form from that race has held up well. Concern is does drop back in races, and around MV in a sprint race with no pace this spells danger. Passing. 1st (W=$4.20)
9 - Daicos : 1st up. Loves MV, but yet to win below 1400M. No
10 - El Nino : 2nd up. Can mix form a bit and does seem to need string out of ground to show best. Last start winner and a few questions over many here so some chance. 3rd (W=$9.70)
11 - Mr Magoo : 1st up. Lightly raced, winner here and good record. Booked Oliver to ride, so that’s a positive sign. Really big concern is barrier 1 for a horse that gets back in a slowly run sprint at MV…could be difficult. Passing.

Results : Class horses ran on at the end of the race. Good run from 2-Cheiron. Star Hit very disappointing.

RACE 3: 1600M 3YO
Selections:
2 - Tarcoola Midnight 3rd (W=$2.40)
12 - Foxborough SCR
7 - Circumnavigating

Others: 8

Summary:
Another race with not that much pace on - Just the 1 - Saturday Fever and 8 - Edging out going forward. A lot of these are genuine stayers in the making and are going to get well back, so stick to those on pace. 2 - Tarcoola Midnight the form horse and still weighted OK on last win with 12 - Foxborough the one with the potential for improvement.

1 - Saturday Fever : 3rd up and well drawn. Gets weight relief with apprentice. Poor run last start, but previous form excellent and proven at 1600M and an on pacer, well drawn. Not sure what went wrong last start, so chance based on previous form.
2 - Tarcoola Midnight : Won easily last start. Done absolutely nothing wrong in 3 starts so far, and managed to carry same weight last start. One to beat. 3rd (W=$2.40)
3 - Amalfi : 2nd up (up 300M). QLDer who is unbeaten in both runs. Have to watch market, but up from a Class 6, up 4kgs, having to carry 57 1st time in Melb and 1st time at MV raises enough questions to leave out. 2nd (W=$3.90)
4 - Blueing the Blues : 3rd up, but done little in 2 runs this time in. 57kgs here and want to wait till he shows some form.
5 - Sheraton : Moody and more tricks than David Copperfield. Can miss start, can drop back, can run off track. Really cannot back with confidence. No
6 - Spitz : Freedman horse with potential, but never really lived up to it. Fitter for 2 runs in and did strike some trouble last start (but was well beaten). Will drop well back and want to wait and see some form. 1st (W=$19.80)
7 - Circumnavigating : Gets 2kgs here from the (2), but was well beaten at that Flem run. Is well drawn, quite consistent and usually around the money and should be at peak now after 3 runs in. Worth considering (and good to see D.Taggart back around).
8 - Edging out : Does seem to need wet tracks to show best. Outside barrier, but not much pace, so likely to go forward, puts him in as a good place chance. 9 - Radiant Blast : Well drawn. Bit hard to line up country wet track form, but does race handy and is well drawn so worth thinking about. Chance.
10 - Charnwood Quest : Country maiden winner and does not look up to these. No
11 - Hillsgrove : Well drawn. Well bred and obviously looking for further. Drops back a mile, and no pace on here is not going to suit, nor is tight MV track. Rough only.
12 - Foxborough : Maiden, but have a bit of time for this one. Not well weighted here against the (2), but should be fitter for 2 runs in. Has been slowly away and dropped back both starts, but really finishes well and does look to have a bit of ability once he puts it all together. Missed start at Caulf, then hunted up hard on inside (worse going), before fading. Is the one to back at odds - just got to hope he jumps and races forward this week, cause he would just about pinch it. SCR

RACE 4: 1500M Open
Selections:
10 - Passing Shot 1st (W=$21.50, P=$6.00)
11 - Star Doc SCR
16 - Our Heritage (emerg) SCR

Others: 4,9

Pace:
Leaders : 9 - Reckabar, 11 - Star Doc, 15 - Rockin' Star (emerg)
Handy : 6 - Adolescence, 10 - Passing Shot, 12 - Magic Ben, 13 - Polish Party
Back : 1 - Old Comrade, 2 - Mr Prudent, 3 - Typhoon, 4 - Bush Padre, 5 - Nina Haraka, 7 - Chiming Door, 8 - Karasi, 14 - Scrumptious

Chances:
4 - Bush Padre : Drawn out. Freedman horse with a cups boom on him. Just below top class last spring. Huge effort 1st up under big weight in QLD. Can take a forward position, but guessing he will drop back here from a wide barrier. Not a very strong field here, so has to go in as a chance. 2nd (W=$2.70)
9 - Reckabar : Well drawn. Form just fair in Adel, but gets light weight with claim here, is only on pacer and has race fitness over most of these. Chance.
10 - Passing Shot : Honest country galloper who has a history of winning at good odds. Another with light weight thanks to claim, and can take a sit here and sprint over them with not much pace on. Leaders dominated in Sandown race, then fair effort on wet track with big weight. Put in as an excellent rough chance. 1st (W=$21.50, P=$6.00)
11 - Star Doc : Drawn 1, but he should stay out of trouble as he can go forward with not much pace on. Lightly raced and won easily last start. Best form so far has been on wet tracks, so might not be as flash here today, but fit, on pace and on the up (lightly raced), so goes in as good chance. SCR

Place:
6 - Adolescence : Drawn out. On pacer who should not have much trouble crossing from barrier as not much pace in this race. 2nd up , and probably still need the run, but place chance as will get cosy on pace run here.
13 - Polish Party : Well drawn. Honest city galloper who does not win out of turn. Place chance on barrier and on pacer.
16 - Our Heritage : Drawn inside. Fitter for 2 runs back. Has not won for 1.5 years, but should just about be ready to show best and seems to have come back to old form. Hard to see him beating the (11) from last start, but if the pace is on, he is worth a rough chance. SCR

Sacking:
1 - Old Comrade : 1st up. Gets the claim here to take the edge off the weight. Been scratched a couple of time recently, so you would have to say his preparation has been thrown out of sync. Still prefer to let run, 1st up over 1500M.
2 - Mr Prudent : Well drawn. 2nd up and up 300M. Stayer who was slow out last start (it’s a habit of his) and prefer later.
3 - Typhoon : Drawn out. Talented on his day, but hard to catch. Needs the firm track, but usually takes a few runs to hit top form so wait till later.
5 - Nina Haraka : Smart mare returning from injury. Usually comes to hand pretty quickly, but did not do much 1st up (wet track did not suit). Still, waiting for her to show form before we get on. No
7 - Chiming Door : Well drawn. 2nd up and did nothing 1st up. Best form in on seriously wet ground, although does go very well here. Later.
8 - Karasi : On pacer stayer resuming. Only won past 2200M so you would say he will need the run here.
12 - Magic Ben : Well drawn. Country galloper whose form is only fair and yet to measure up in town. No
14 - Scrumptious : Well drawn. 1st up from let up. NZ er who does settle back and prefer to let run here.
15 - Rockin' Star : Leader, who will probably get caught out wide from barrier. Excellent country form and 3 times winner here, so up to city class. Probably needs the track wet to show best in city though, so prefer to let run. 3rd (W=$38.50)

Summary:
A lot is going to depend on whether the emergency, 15 - Rockin' Star gets a run - if he does, then the pace should be quiet genuine, if he does not, its going to be a pretty lackadaisical pace and on pacers suited - 9 - Reckabar, 11 - Star Doc the likely leaders. 4 - Bush Padre is obviously the class horse here and really does not meet much in the way of opposition. Putting 10 - Passing Shot on top for some odds, 11 - Star Doc the obvious danger and throw 16 - Our Heritage in as an absolute roughie if he gets a run. Lots of unknowns here, so a bit difficult to bet with confidence.

Results : A fast run race favoured our top pick with race fitness on his side - and a bonanza with a 20-1 winner on top and a boom start to the quaddie.

RACE 5: C.S.Hayes Stakes 3YO Group 3
Selections:
1 - Firm 2nd (W=$7.50)
4 - Deprave 1st (W=$6.40)
7 - La Lagune 3rd (W=3.50)

Quinella : $22.70
Trifecta : $108.80

Others: 5, 10

Pace:
Leaders : 2 - Feel The Noise, 5 - Sir Chuckle
Handy : 1 - Firm, 7 - La Lagune
Back : 3 - Neiwand, 4 - Deprave, 6 - Tully Zeal, 8 - Palidamah, 9 - Tully Thunder, 11 - Ugachaka, 12 - Finishing School, 10 - Dragila

Chances:
1 - Firm : 3rd up and well drawn. Should be fitter for 2 runs in and huge run last start when shuffled back and came home hard. Expect him to settle a bit more forward here from a good barrier. Go well.2nd (W=$7.50)
4 - Deprave : Well drawn. Good win 1st up on very wet track. Does seem to go well here, but does usually  get back in his races (except last start). This field is not that strong and does have winning form. Chance 1st (W=$6.40)
5 - Sir Chuckle : Well drawn. Been scratched a few times recently, so not sure if they are waiting for this, or waiting for dry ground, or due to injury. On pacer who may be a rough chance here with not much pace on.
7 - La Lagune : Well drawn. Good win 1st up and seems to be a class above this field. This race is probably easier than last start. Can take a good on pace sit. Get the feeling that she is going to start very short here though. Only doubt is that she can scramble a bit going around the home turn, you might find she wobbles a bit around the tight turn here. Top chance, but happy to consider others. 3rd (W=3.50)
10 - Dragila : Well drawn and huge run 1st up at Sandown, when came down the middle of the track, which was not the place to be. Rough chance.

Place:

2 - Feel The Noise : 1st up. Does have ability, but is a bit hard to line up 1st up here. Drawn the rails and can race to lead here. Going to have to watch market here to see how he has come up. Is a straight out speed horse, so the last 50M are the test. Rough
6 - Tully Zeal : Made good ground 1st up and obviously is going to be a lot better off for the run, and probably better on dry ground. Is meeting more experienced rivals here, but rough chance.

Sacking:
3 - Neiwand : 2nd up. Contested all the big races in the Autumn and managed to find trouble time after time. Seems to be always running on, but prefer to wait till he actually wins one.
8 - Palidamah : Drawn out. 2nd up. Did not really do much 1st up and more importantly did not have much support. Good form in QLD last preparation, and have to watch market here as she should improve on the dry track. Still want to wait and see her show some form in Melb.
9 - Tully Thunder : Drawn out. 2nd up. Made good ground 1st up. Obviously looking for distance, but don't really want to be on anything here that gets too far back. No
11 - Ugachaka : Freedman boom filly that flopped first up. Light weight here and previously MV form excellent. 1st time on a dry track here and likely to get well back again in a race where there is not going to be that much pace. Likely to go around under the odds again, and prefer to risk her again here.
12 - Finishing School : Nzer and impossible to line up. Just have to watch market.

Summary:
Could be a bit of a tricky race. Field is not actually that strong, and not all that much in the way of pace. The obvious class in the race is 7 - La Lagune and she does seem to be a class above these, just a little concerned with her around a tight MV circuit. Don't be surprised if we get a value result here as there a lots of up and comers capable of quick improvement. Main factor is the extreme lack of pace - only possible speed is 2 - Feel The Noise and 5 - Sir Chuckle. Going with 1 - Firm on the basis that he is going to jump cleanly and race a bit closer to the lead than last 2 starts. 4 - Deprave the other likely challenger with rough hopes to 5 - Sir Chuckle and 10 - Dragila.

Results : Spot on again, not only getting the winner, but boxing the quinella and trifecta as well. Deprave is smart, but just might struggle over distance. Good runs from Tully Zeal and Ugachaka (ready to start backing her now).

RACE 6: Feehan Stakes 1600M Group 2
Selections:
7 - Sunline 2nd (W=1.60)
1 - Northerly 1st (W=2.90)
3 - Weasel Will

Quinella : $2.10

Pace:
Leaders : 2 - Brave Chief, 4 - Walk On Ice
Handy : 1 - Northerly, 6 - Sir Clive, 7 - Sunline
Back : 5 - Ekalaka, 8 - Matriculate

Chances:
1 - Northerly : Obviously has a stack of ability. Not punished once the jockey knew he was beaten last start. Probably has a better sprint than Sunline, but can't sustain his run for as long. Still has a few tricks up his sleeves though - can over race if the pace is slow early, and don't think he would be comfortable if he had to make a long hard sustained run to chase someone down. A nice sit, and kicking away are his game. 1st (W=2.90)
3 - Weasel Will : Fitter for 2 runs in and just did not go on wet ground last start. Good run 1st up and lots of improvement expected here sees him as the trifecta pick
7 - Sunline : Good win last start, although opposition was pretty weak. Looks more bomb proof than Northerly here, and although the pace should be on, she should be able to make a long sustained run. Won this race in a canter last year. Only possible clink would be if they do decided to take a sit and someone decides to pocket her in barrier 2. Obviously the one to beat. 2nd (W=1.60)

Place:
4 - Walk On Ice : Tough front runner, who we can never seem to catch. Has a bit of a habit of looking home on the home turn here at MV and dying badly in the run home. Another on pacer, and place chance as has a large fitness edge on these.
5 - Ekalaka : Well drawn. Had a freshen and maintains a very good win strike rate. The pace on here should suit, as he does like to get back and run on, so if they do go nuts up in the lead he will be the one to finish over the top of them. Class is the test, but rough place chance.

Sacking:
2 - Brave Chief : Leader. 2nd up here and not really a WFA horse and still on the way back from year off after major illness. Only interest is may put some pressure on the lead.
6 - Sir Clive : Also now know as Sir Clod. Hype horse of spring who flopped at Sandown (when apparently did not go down the hill), but stopped again at the 200M in the Craiglee (think he had to stop and do up his laces or something). If he stops at the 200M here at MV, he won't even make it into the straight. Best form is on very wet tracks and can't have until he shows something. 3rd (W=19.20)
8 - Matriculate : B grade stayer at best and did nothing 1st up. No

Summary:
Comes down to tactics obviously. No value and no bet race. Pace should be good with 2 - Brave Chief, 4 - Walk On Ice contesting, expect that 7 - Sunline will take sit again and make long sustained run around them and run away with it. Obvious danger is 1 - Northerly, don't think a hard run race will suit him, or a slow crawl, but if he gets the right tempo sure he is capable of kicking and out sprinting Sunline. Great entertainment all round.

Results : Sunline looked home - and so did our quaddie. Amazing race. As predicated, Northerly really did not look to like chasing hard, but when asked to do it - he did. Weasel Will ready to win now.

RACE 7: Stock Stakes 1600M 4YOM+ Group 3
Selections:
12 - Ponton Flyer SCR
5 - Flushed
4 - Lady Marion 1st (W=11.20)

Others: 14, 9

Pace:
Leaders : 4 - Lady Marion, 7 - Madame Plume, 14 - Hot Riff
Handy : 9 - Quietly Adamant, 11 - Coeur Dehere, 13 - Blab
Back : 1 - Umaline, 2 - Norcir, 3 - Tickle My, 5 - Flushed, 6 - Bumbelina, 8 - Summer Rule, 10 - Grand Seattle, 15 - Tyrolean, 16 - Roccina

Chances:
4 - Lady Marion : Honest on pace mare who is a little under rated. Again, she needs it firm and her best form is always in her 1st couple of runs in. Drawn out, but should be able to cross. Suited here at level weights after carrying big weight last start. Had no luck last start, being blocked for runs and held up, although don't think she was going well enough to win. If they ease off on the pace, she could get race run to suit here and worth a chance at odds with expected improvement.1st (W=11.20)
5 - Flushed : Well drawn. Talented mare who came up quicker than expected and surprised everyone last start. She did however, get the race to suit, lots of cover from head wind, and fast run race that suited runners on. 3rd up here, and with 2 x 1400M runs under her belt, there should still be more improvement to come. Has to go in.
9 - Quietly Adamant : Honest mare who struck a purple patch in the Autumn. Ran on OK 1st up in slowly run race where back markers had no chance. She is well drawn and can take up a forward position, and has a really strong grinding finish. Might still need one more run to find her best, but worth throwing in at odds.
12 - Ponton Flyer : 3rd up and fitter for 2 runs in. Needs it dry, and the track should be firm enough here. Excellent run last start when caught 3 wide facing the breeze when other had cover, and most of the other on pacers dropped out. Up 200M, 3rd up there is always the chance she will need the run, but good chance. SCR
14 - Hot Riff : Well drawn. On the way up, lightly raced and looks to have a stack of ability. Will go forward here, although looks like there will be a little pressure in the lead. Has not beaten all that much last two, and has had everything to suit with cosy on pace runs on leader bias runs. No doubt he has ability, just wonder if she is going to start silly odds here. Chance, but raising in class here and don't got taking unders.

Place:
6 - Bumbelina : Another dry tracker who rarely gets conditions to suit. 3rd up here and up 200M means she might just need the run. Flew home last start. Never seen the best of her in Melb, just because of wet tracks and bad luck. Just wonder if she need the big track to show her best. Rough chance only.
7 - Madame Plume : Honest on pacer, who loves this track, but does go better in the wet. Fitter for 3 runs in and does have race fitness on her side here. If they ease on the pace she should be suited, she is just about always in the finish, but just seems to need everything to go her way to win. Prefer place.
11 - Coeur Dehere : Well drawn. Even effort last start, but meets 12-Ponton Flyer and 5-Flushed on bad weight terms from last start. Can go forward so should get nice run on speed, so rough place chance here.
15 - Tyrolean : Drawn out. Lightly raced. 3rd up and 2 runs in have been excellent. Should be fitter for 2 runs in, and better for the run over 1600M. Will get well back and run on, just not sure MV is going to be her track, and this is a pretty smart field. Rough.

Sacking:
1 - Umaline : Drawn out. Talented mare on her day, but really needs a very firm track (it won't be far off), and a roomy track. 2nd up here and did not go a ground in the wet first up, but still likely to need the run here. No
2 - Norcir : Well drawn. Drops back, needs the pace on, dry track, big track. Did not go through ground 1st up, but 2nd up here and up 500M is a big ask and prefer later.
3 - Tickle My : Classy mare with excellent MV record. Excellent run 1st up. 2nd up here and up 400M is a big ask, but gets good weight relief until this weight scale. She is worth following, but place chance best here as would prefer her to have one more run.2nd (W=4.00)
8 - Summer Rule : Perpetual eye catching runner on, but her form this time in has been super consistent. Good MV record and handles all sorts of tracks. Stepping up to group company for the 1st time here, and a bit concerned about all these back markers getting clear runs in a slowly run race. Prefer to risk.
10 - Grand Seattle : Under rated mare, who is best on wet ground, but loves MV. Not quite sure she is up to these. Did not do much last start, but runners on were not really suited. Again, the inside barrier and getting back are going to make things hard here. No
13 - Blab : Drawn in is always a danger at MV in big fields as you can get held up for runs. Never been a horse of ours, despite the fact that she finally started putting some wins together over winter. MV specialist, but has failed every time she tries to contest the higher grades and prefer to leave out.
16 - Roccina : Drawn out. Been freshened. Lightly raced and does look to have ability, but not really suited up in class here under this weight scale. No.

Summary:
Could be a bit of pressure up front here - 14 - Hot Riff leading with 4 - Lady Marion, 7 - Madame Plume coming across from wide barriers. Genuine pace (but not super fast), so those getting back should have their chances (they will just have to make their runs wide as you don't want to try and get through the field at MV). Pretty keen on 12 - Ponton Flyer to turn the tables on 5 - Flushed here, although she might need one more run, 12 - Ponton Flyer definitely had the harder run last start. 4 - Lady Marion and 9 - Quietly Adamant the best outsiders.

Results : Another good value winner. Good runs from Tickle My (needed the run), Noircir and Flushed (keep following - especially on wet ground).

RACE 8: 1200M 3Y0F
Selections:
9 - Gold Lottey
3 - Cosmic Strike 3rd (W=$16.70)
4 - Haste Ye Back 2nd (W=$8.00)

Others : 14,8,10

Summary:
Seems to be a fair bit of pace here, so happy to get on something that settles back a bit. Pace is 2 - Betula , 5 - Shirley's Luvena, 6 - Violent Tints, 11 - Froth and Bubble. Very open race and not one to bet on with confidence. The perpetually unlucky 9 - Gold Lottey from 3 - Cosmic Strike the top pick from barrier and 14 - Special Grange the improver. Chances to 4 - Haste Ye Back, 8 - Speaker and 10 - Largo

1 - Balbina : 1st up. Gets apprentice claim. Group winner last time in and probably go well fresh - did win barrier trial - will get well back though.
2 - Betula : SCR from Ascot Vale when would not go in barrier. On pacer, who is drawn out and will need to try and cross from outside barrier, else be caught wide. Chance.
3 - Cosmic Strike : Well drawn. Last start Adel winner and will take up a very nice position from a good barrier. Chance 3rd (W=$16.70)
4 - Haste Ye Back : Drawn out. 3rd up and fitter for 2 runs in. Unlucky 1st up, but still well beaten , then dropped out quickly at Caulfield, when probably did not handle wet ground. Will drop back from barrier, but except some improvement here. 2nd (W=$8.00)
5 - Shirley's Luvena : Leader, drawn out a little. They went quickly last start, but likely to do the same here so ready to risk.
6 - Violent Tints : Honest on pacer, who got very cosy run last start and looked the winner 200M out, but just did not run out the 1200M. Slight distance query, but MV should assist. Seems to be a fair bit of pace here again, but in well with claim so rough chance.
7 - Dreamalot : Well drawn. Tassie horse whose only form so far has been on seriously wet tracks, so prefer to see.
8 - Speaker : Good win 1st up, then plain 2nd up run. Might not have handle the wet ground last start. Drawn wide here means she will have to drop back, but probably a rough chance if back to 1st start form.
9 - Gold Lottey : 1st up and won recent barrier trial. Honest when last in work, but did strike trouble a few times. Well drawn and is likely to go well fresh. Good chance.
10 - Largo : Barrier 1 is a real problem here, although Oliver is on board. She does have a fair bit of ability, but reputation for dropping out, getting blocked for runs and ready to let run here. Will need to drop out and come around them.
11 - Froth and Bubble : Country wet track winner who can go forward. Doubt she will stack up here though.
12 - Mook San Girl : Winner here, but last 2 runs shockers. Later.
13 - Princess Dehere : Well drawn. Yet to win one, but obviously has some ability. Rough chance.
14 - Special Grange : Done nothing wrong so far and looks like pace here will suit. Good chance. 1st (W=$4.20)

Results : Top things off nicely in a tough race with the $500 trifecta boxed in the top 4 chances.
