Best Typo Ever - Leads to $115,000 dividend

We were breaking out all sorts of dance moves after an awesome tipping performance last weekend at Moonee Valley where we found a great long shot winner BOOGIELICIOUS at W=$40.50 in the selections.

Then we were alerted that we had made a shocking typo in the tips for Race 4, where we tipped 4-THE UNITED STATES, but accidentally typed it in as number (3) in the selections.

The Williams stable mate 3-CHANCE TO DANCE got up in that race...

One lucky Turf Deli punter, was unlucky enough to have a broken printer, so was cruelly forced to write down the numbers, and then put them on as tipped (including the typo), into an Early Quad - and collected a percentage of the massive $115,221 dividend!

Obviously the typo doesn't count for official tipping results, but the real tips were only a short head away from a substantial 5 figure collect regardless.

You can share this great punting story via these links on Facebook or Twitter.

Just because we think it is such a great story. Nothing at all to do with wanting some free publicity...(seriously, we could do with some if you can help out and forward this story around).

Even allowing for fortuitous mistyped Acts of God, the tips did really well, with 2 winners on top and 6 winners in the selections from 9 races.

Race 2: 9-BOOGIELICIOUS W=$40.50
Race 3: 12-BON ROCKET W=$11.40 - top pick
Race 5: 6-STAY WITH ME W=$4.20
Race 6: 9-FELL SWOOP W=$2.20
Race 7: 5-THE CLEANER W=$5.30 - top pick
Race 8: 1-CHAUTAUQUA W=$2.70

The tips and form comments were right on the money for most of the day:

- in Race 2, from 3 selections, we not only found the $40 winner 9-BOOGIELICIOUS, but also the long shot place getter 12-SPANISH LOVE 3rd W=$25.60. Of course we backed our top pick, which did nothing. But still - just add in the favourite and there is a $6300 trifecta begging to be collected. All punters are blessed with this remarkable gift of crystal clear, perfect, punting hindsight.

- we took on a short priced favourite as our Lay of the Day, Race 3: 4-STRONG HAND 11th W=$2.50 who duly flopped.

- our main race detailed form was spot on, confidently tipping the winner of the feature race, casting doubts over the short priced favourite and finding the Best Roughie 8-BAGMAN 2nd W=$21.20.

The Betting Portfolio couldn't quite squeeze a profit though but got most of its money back:

BEST EACH WAY: Race 7: 5-THE CLEANER 1st W=$5.30

2015 Spring Campaign: 4 weeks - 1 profit - 3 returns - 0 wipe out. Net: $-21.60

We actually check our selection numbers quite carefully each week - so no idea how that typo slipped through. But we will give the data entry team a reprieve on that one...

If you do have a win following our tips please let us know at info@turfdeli.com.au

P.S. If you do ever spot a typo in the selections, do please let us know!

THE DIVA

Your TV screens are about to get smoking hot.

Breaking news this week, that following on from this season of The Bachelor, reality programming will go to a whole new level with an exciting new show named The Diva.

Whilst dating programs have always been focused on beautiful human boys and girls, The Diva will be the first to break new ground into the realm of animal husbandry.

Follow the dating life of three times Melbourne Cup winner MAKYBE DIVA as she strives to find true love in the push, shove and mount world that is the mating season.

MAKYBE DIVA has been unlucky in love since retiring from her stellar racing career.

Following the standard formula for any dating show, The Diva, will take her group of prospective stallions out on group dates, with specially chosen lucky lads getting to progress to one on one activity dates such as sky diving, ten pin bowling and um, horse riding (still working on that one).

At the end of each show, it is crunch time for the prospective suitors in The Stable Ceremony where The Diva has to choose which unsuspecting stallion to send onto the float and on his way home.

Will it be one stomp for Yes, or two stomps for No? Tune in and find out.

BRUNCH QUADDIE
______________________________________

We thought the TAB missed a great marketing opportunity with the introduction of the "Early Quaddie".

It is not a very inspiring name.

We could have had the Early Quaddie, the Late Quaddie, and the Late Late Quaddie.

Or the Goldilocks Quaddie, named after the process punters go through every week

- This Quaddie is Too Small
- This Quaddie is Too Big
- but This Quaddie is Just Right...

The TAB have been concerned about the downturn in retail wagering with more people betting online at home and on mobile devices.

But, just imagine if they had called it the Brunch Quaddie.

Immediately there would have been long queues of eager inner city Melbournians lining up around the block for an over priced not quite breakfast and not quite lunch experience.

Utter the word Brunch and they will come. Problem solved.
