Turf Deli Racing News

Tom Who ?

Spring Racing has again been struck down by a virulent contagion.

Not since the outbreak of Equine Influenza in 2007 has a virus had such an impact on the Spring Racing Carnival.

The latest virus has been identified as a extremely potent strain of marketing, and goes by the Latin name of Tommus Waterhouse Irritatus.

But most people refer to it more commonly as "Bloody Hell There He is Again".

Those afflicted often report continuously seeing stylized images of Tom Waterhouse wherever they look. On TV, in the newspaper, on the internet, on the train, in cloud formations in the sky and on the inside of their eyelids.

The effects can be quite debilitating and can range from mild nausea, to headaches, to sudden involuntary urges to swear and throw things at the television.

Pop on the TV in the morning, there is Tom. Switch over to the news in the evening - there is Tom.

Turn on Play School for the kiddies and there is Big Tom and Little Tom.

Snuggle in for some ABC period drama and there is Tom in waistcoat and top hat offering penny back specials on the 1892 Melbourne Cup.

Open up your breakfast cereal in the morning and there is Tom, cause he doesn't know how they make it go Snap, Crackle and Pop, but he does know what punters want.

So what do punters want? Their sanity back ! Please.

No risk $200 ping with BETFAIR

Stakes Day has been a wipe out for punters quite a few times recently with lots of long shot winners

This is your big chance to pick one at odds on Stakes Day and try and land a sizeable bounty.

The strategy is pretty simple.

Plonk up to $200 on the nose at one at odds tomorrow, or sometime over Cup Week.

If it wins - you are laughing.

If not - no drama, you get your money back and go back to your normal betting.

Always read the Terms and Conditions on these offers - to make sure you make the most of them.

This offer is for new accounts only who join via this link .

It needs to be the first bet in your new account, and it needs to be a single bet up to $200 so you need to find a price on offer where you can bet the whole amount in one go, else use the Betfair Starting Price option.

So maybe join up, wait to till you see something you like and just go for it. Great if you are a small punter and always dreamed of having a serious bash at one at odds.

Using a similar offer last year several small punters on our mailing list had substantial four figure collects with $200 win bets on roughie PINKER PINKER in last year's Cox Plate. It is a great chance to have a big collect without any risk involved.

Click here to open a BETFAIR account and take advantage of this offer.

Add It Up

Melbourne Cup Day is always a dodgy day to have a bet. Lots of extremely big fields, lots of form lines, but thankfully if you follow a dodgy tipping service like ours you can find some winners.

Only the two winners in the selections, but they were both top picks, they were both at nice odds, and both featured in the Betting Portfolio which chalked up a profit for the day.

BEST EACH WAY: Race 6: 8-WALK WITH ATTITUDE 1st W=$6.50
BEST WIN: Race 8: 11-ECLAIR SURPRISE 1st W=$10.30

Even better we predicted the news story with the winner of Race 8:
" Plus, the jockey got taken off ALCOPOP on the weekend and missed out on a Group 1, but if he wins this - he gets to meet Prince Charles !"

Although we didn't find the winner in the Melbourne Cup, the detailed form analysis was a useful read as always.

The same key points keep popping up year after year
- you need to have genuine winning form to win a Melbourne Cup
- the most highly spruiked unseen overseas horses just don't win - so really don't bother
- the unseen overseas ones that fill the placings are often those with a low profile at long odds
- and most importantly of all, when you take a three horse box trifecta in the Cup, you need to pick numbers that add up ! Once again it happened and 14-11-3 scored you a tidy $45,000 or so

2012 Spring Campaign: 15 weeks - 3 profits - 7 returns - 5 wipe outs - Net: -$399.55

TURF DELI PHONE APP
______________________________________

The wait is finally over.

The fully voice interactive Turf Deli phone app is finally here.

Responds to thousands of commands.

The vast majority of them being swear words about how crap the tips went today.

Q: What should I bet on in the next Turf Deli ?
A: A box quinella with the light weight chances, Master

Q: Tell Turf Deli to get well and truly stuffed
A: As you wish Master

Q: Turf Deli, you do realise that the Lay of the Day just won again ?
A: Have you tried re-booting Master?

Q: Give us the quaddie straight out Turf Deli ?
A: I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

* Note that we don't really have a phone app so don't go looking for it.

If you really want an answer we will be standing around the Mounting Yard at Flemington all week trying to get our head on TV, so come say Hello.

FLEMINGTON TRACK GUIDE
______________________________________

If you are heading out to races during Cup Week check out our Flemington Track Guide.

Handy hints with associated nonsense about where to meet, where to hang out and how to avoid the queues on course.

Toilets

It always pays to know where the sturdy, spacious permanent toilet blocks are. If you go out the back of the course, towards the main car park, past the book makers ring, just near the Flemington Heritage centre there is a major, solid, permanent and very under utilised toilet block. No frustrating lines for the ladies in their race day finest.

EFTPOS

There are plenty of EFTPOS machines around the course, with the main windows being in the undercroft of the main grandstand as you walk down the grey stairs. Seriously though, just plan and get organised and stop at the bank on the way to the course as sometimes the on course EFTPOS line can be a 20 minute wait, which is just a waste of time.
