Crisis at Turf Deli

It was time for crisis talks down at Turf Deli HQ last week with the first two weeks of the spring campaign being utterly and totally awful.

The Turf Deli leadership group was summoned to a hastily arranged crisis meeting, complete with hastily baked crisis meat pies, sausage rolls and a family pack of crisis potato chips. Nothing like some stinging salt and vinegar to spark people into action.

The meeting continued till the wee small hours of the morning, with many hours of evaluation, brain storming, proposals, heated discussion, pie diagrams and flow charts. At the end of it all, the Turf Deli team stepped out to meet the public with a steely resolve - to come up with a suitable scape goat to blame.

There were no winners on top last week, and just two winners in the top three. The Betting Portfolio got back just a little when our Each Day Bet of the Day Race 4 : 3-CRABS was arguably bloody unlucky not to win. The only thing we did get right was to point out the likelihood of a heavily biased track, with all the winners either leading or sticking close to the fence, but even knowing that we struggled for form.

We keep a list of racing patterns for all the main spring racing meetings for the last ten years under our Track Archive on the website. As far as we are aware this is unique content that is not available anywhere else on the internet. It is amazing how often the same racing pattern pops up at certain meetings year after year.

Forget the traditional hissing noise, or punching the air, we would like to encourage the newest form of backing a winner celebrations.

As witnessed on the lawns at a Moonee Valley night meeting earlier in the year.

Instructions as follows :

1.Stand tall
2. Look straight ahead with a slightly maniacal stare.
3. Stretch arms outwards and upwards to your adoring crowd.
4. Shake your head slightly - preferably with a bit of cheek wobble.
5. Get a mad grin on your face
6. Let out a Charlie Sheen style "WINNING"
